Thirty years ago “La Ola”, a Yellow Belizean built 26’ fishing boat, sailed into the Placencia Harbor. The young captain could barely believe his eyes – a beautiful, safe harbour, tranquil waters, sprawling white beaches and welcoming people. ……..

Placencia was perfect.

It didn’t take long for me to fall in love ….with the exotic local people and their incredible home, breathtaking Placencia. I discovered a little harbour, nestled in Placencia Caye. I dreamed of making my home there.

Reality set in and I knew if I wanted to stay forever I would have to go back. So I headed back to the “real world”…

From that day on, my safe haven teased my thoughts and haunted my dreams. As the dream grew and matured thought to myself why not share this paradise with others and that is how the idea of the Placencia Yacht Club became my reality.

Now, 30 years later the boats have gotten bigger and more expensive. So have my tastes for comfort. My dream of a 34 slip marina with 16 luxury condominiums, a large swimming pool, the “Tranquilo” Restaurant & Bar situated on a long dock in Placencia harbour, where it all started - has become a reality!
